Dream Builders Communication, Inc. The Dream Builders Communication, Inc. After-School & Summer Enrichment program’s purpose is to enhance and assist students in the areas of academic, leadership, and social/life skills necessary to achieve holistically. Students will develop skills and become re-engaged, which will inspire them to become more focused in their academic, personal, and ultimately professional process. The targeted students range from kindergarteners to high school seniors who have not met State Proficiency Standards, have scored at levels I or II on State Assessments, currently attend a low-performing or high priority school, Title I Schools, or attend or reside in an area were the elementary school is identified as a Title I school, or if identified students need additional support academically/socially. All program activities will adhere to the Title IV Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act Principles of Effectiveness as listed below. Through interactive non-traditional means of learning, we can be instrumental in preparing students to succeed, especially those who will not consider options beyond high school. This opportunity will decrease the potential involvement in gang activities and dropping out of school. The Dream Builders Communication, Inc. Summer Enrichment Program is designed to provide assistance, while allowing an outlet for creativity to be developed and shared. DBC also focuses on integrating Critical Thinking in a more innovative manner by engaging students: 1) to think outside of the box, 2) to begin relating the lesson to everyday life experiences, and 3) to remove the “fear” by positively challenging the lesson to gain ownership. The Dream Builders Communication, Inc. 21st Century Community Learning Center T.A.G. Program is an After-school and Summer Enrichment Program FREE for students who meet the following criteria: (1) scored Level 1 or II on the EOG’s, (2) attend a Title I school (3) have been identified by their teacher as at risk of scoring Level 1 or 2’s on EOG (primarily K-2nd grade students). The program operation hours are Monday thru Friday from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm for after school and 8:00 am to 5:00 pm summer program at either Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church in Statesville/Iredell or St. Stephens AME Zion in Gastonia/Gaston Counties.
The T.A.G. Program is designed to assist students academically, socially, culturally, and emotionally. T.A.G. is not a “homework” site, but we will provide academic enrichment and support in academics. All students will have a Person Centered Plan (PCP), which consist of a parent, teacher, and student questionnaire. This will help staff identify and create the students’ program inside the T.A.G. program. The students will have academics daily, and all activities will incorporate academic instruction/enrichment as well. Students will be engaged in arts & craft, drama, music, technology, sports & fitness. Each student will have the ability to display and present the skills learned throughout the program. Students will also participate in educational fieldtrips (schedules to be provided to parents) The Iredell or Gaston County School Bus Transportation Systems will assist with providing transportation from area schools to the site for the After-school and summer program. In order to complete this process, parents will need to complete the application process to access students’ records. T.A.G. request parents to provide transportation for students upon the conclusion of the program day.
